The Aspects of Israel, the way of living during the time of Jesus. People of Israel made a living based on where and when they lived. People made a living while moving around and traveling while herding cattle or sheep, or by staying in one area and growing crops and vegetables. The two main jobs that were a way of making a living were caring for the animals and the land. These people whom hearded sheep, cattle, and goats were called nomads. Nomads were very common during the time of Jesus; obviously because Jesus was seen as the good shepherd. The nomads did not exactly have stationary houses; they lived in tents and did not have much land property. Nomad’s usually survived by sacrificing their cattle, sheep, and goats to drink milk and eat meat from their flocks. They also sacrificed their wool and hides to keep themselves warm. The shepherds lived in a better condition; they lived in villages and their job was a little more difficult. The shepherds had to be outside at almost all times to keep an eye on their sheep to protect it from other carnivorous animals or pedestrians.
The way people used to pay back in the time of Jesus was difficult to determine, but the most likely way that people used to pay for items was using certain coins and by trading their food or their hard work. The most logical would be that the people who worked the more difficult jobs would be the higher paying, but actually it is the opposite. The people who had the harder jobs were the poor people, they occupied jobs such as mining, cutting rocks, building roads, cleaning streets, digging wells, working as a crew member, unloading goods and products, driving camels, etc. Many people joined the government and the military. From the top of the hierarchy were the kings, queens, emperors, diplomats, ambassadors, senators and governors. Also, during the time of Jesus slavery was fairly common, most slaves did not carry out jobs on the field crops or vegetables, most slaves did household jobs. There were many crafts that occurred during Jesus’, such as baking, cooking, and cooking. These crafts were pretty much done everyday in a common households and businesses.
